It is very common to smell the smell of dampness on our clothes just out of the closet. Although clean, clothes can have that unpleasant smell in the closet. And for good reason, as it is a closed environment, where the air circulates very little, the linen suffocates and retains this damp scent.

Fortunately, solutions exist to overcome the problem. To avoid any unpleasant surprises when wearing your clothes, quickly discover these natural remedies that will help you quickly get rid of these disturbing scents!

coffee grounds

With coffee grounds

The first effective solution to get rid of the bad smell of humidity in your closet is to use coffee grounds , which have a great absorbing and deodorizing property. You just need to place 2 bowls (or even more) with this ingredient in the corners of the cupboard and leave them until you notice that the smell has completely disappeared. We also remind you to change them every 2 or 3 days to make this remedy even more effective.

With rice

As an alternative to coffee grounds, you can also use another ingredient that is very good at absorbing moisture. You may not know it, but rice is known to purify the ambient air and eliminate unpleasant odors!

Add a few tablespoons of rice in cotton bags and place them in the corners of the cupboard. The ability of rice to absorb water naturally will reduce the humidity in the closet and therefore the smell on your clothes!

baking soda

Another very suitable way to eliminate humidity in cabinets is to use baking soda which, like rice and coffee grounds, naturally absorbs humidity, thus freeing closed spaces of bad odors.

Put a small bowl full of baking soda in the cupboard and change it at least once a week. Baking soda will absorb excess moisture and make bad odors go away in no time! If you want to perfume the wardrobe, you just have to make a thick paste with baking soda and 5 or 6 drops of essential oil (of your choice). Then put this mixture in a sachet and place it in the cupboard. We suggest lavender, very suitable for perfuming laundry.

A homemade moisture absorber

And how about making your own moisture absorber yourself with just a few natural ingredients?

You will need:

  • 500g of salt
  • 3 flavored tea bags
  • 5 drops of essential oil (of your choice)
  • 2 glass jars
  • 1 plastic bag

Take the plastic bag and cover the glass jars. Then pour the salt and the contents of one and a half tea bags into each jar and mix the two ingredients well.

Add drops of essential oil. Cover them with plastic and close the lid. Leave the jars closed for 3 days, during which you will need to shake them to mix the ingredients well.

Remove the lid and place them in the cabinet in a comfortable position!

And now, the bad smells of humidity will be just a bad memory!

This moisture absorber can also be used anywhere else in the home, especially in more humid areas, such as the bathroom.
