Let’s look at different methods together to be able to use them.
Old sponges, how to use them to grow plants

Old sponges holding plants. We reveal some methods to recycle them giving benefits to plants. You can use them by creating a mixture of soil and sponges:
- Cut the sponge into small pieces
- Mixing with soil
- Create a mix that will be the base for cuttings (50% sponge and 50% soil) or for plants that need moist but ventilated soil such as pothos (1/3 curl and 2/3 soil)
- When the two compositions are mixed, fill a container, perforated underneath, with the mixture and insert the cuttings.
- Watered
- Close the jar in a plastic bag
- Place it in light but not in direct rays
Just wait a few days to see the seedlings sprout green, bright, and strong.

You can also use the sponge to germinate a seed, such as lemon seeds:
- Take seeds from the inside of the lemon
- Cut the sponge in half
- Open one of the two halves, but don’t cut it all the way off, leaving the base closed and the end open
- Inside the cut made in the sponge insert with the help of tweezers the seeds, 4 or 5
- Close the sponge and place it in a bowl of water
After two weeks the seeds will have sprouted, developed a root system and a small sprout. At this point, the only thing left is to stop them inside a pot, at least 10 centimeters in diameter, with the soil that is good for citrus fruits. Here make a hole to insert the seed. The forecast is to put the root down and the shoot up, cover and wet thoroughly. At this point you just need a little patience, after a few months, three or so, the plant will be at least 5 centimeters tall.

- Open the sponge and insert the twig inside so that almost all of it is covered
- Close the sponge and place it in a glass with 3-4 centimeters of water at the bottom
- Check the state of the art after about two weeks
- If the roots are long you can put the twig in the ground
