How to care for sansevieria in a few steps.
Sansevieria is one of the most common houseplants, it’s an evergreen that needs little attention, but with a few tricks you can make it grow even faster.
- Fertilizer Fertilization for this plant is essential, use a fertilizer
for succulents (it must contain nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium).
Fertilization should be carried out twice a month in spring and summer, but should be suspended during winter and autumn.
If you prefer the use of natural fertilizers, you can opt for coffee grounds. - Repotting
At least once every two years, it is necessary to transfer the sansevieria to a larger pot. The perfect time to make this transition is March, with the onset of spring.
Handle the roots carefully to avoid breaking them and always choose clay pots with drainage holes.
Sun exposure Despite being a houseplant, sansevieria during the summer months can be exposed to direct sunlight. Avoid only the hottest hours of the day.
Sheet cleaning To promote proper photosynthesis, it is necessary to keep the plant’s leaves well clean.
Dissolve 30 g of Marseille soap in half a liter of water and use the mixture to clean the leaves and remove layers of dust, helped with a soft cloth.
