How, when, and what to use to fertilize your geraniums.

The geranium is a flower that often embellishes balconies and terraces. It is a very easy plant to grow and without special needs, which is also why it is so common.

However, in order to bloom at their best, geraniums need nutrients.

So let’s see how to dose them, how often, and how to provide them to enjoy the wonderful flowers they produce.

  1. Frequency: There are several ideal times to fertilize geraniums. One is surely when they are planted and/or decanted. In this case, natural fertilizers such as compost (in this case monthly) or liquids (every 2-3 weeks) can be used.
  2. When: Other ideal times are in the pre-flowering phase, i.e. when the first buds begin to appear, and until summer. In the autumn season, however, they can be reduced: in this period the plant does not need nutrients as it is inactive.
  3. As a fertilizer: among the most suitable natural fertilizers for geraniums we undoubtedly find coffee grounds and Epsom salt, which provide the amounts of nutrients and minerals necessary for the plant to grow healthy and strong.
