wash the mattress
After completing the first step, let’s move on to the next one: washing the mattress.
The mattress by its nature absorbs liquids, so we advise against getting it “too much” wet.
It is therefore advisable to wash your mattress with baking soda.
Baking soda cleans fabrics, whitens them and eliminates bad smells, so why not choose it as your first ally in this mission?
All you have to do is fill a basin with warm water and dissolve 2 tablespoons of baking soda in it.
Next, take a microfiber cloth, dampen it (not too much) in the solution, and wipe it down on one side of the mattress. Wait for it to dry and wash the other side with the same procedure.
If, on the contrary, you prefer dry cleaning, you can spread the baking soda over the entire surface of the bed, then hold it there for 2 hours, then vacuum it and repeat the operation with the other side.
You can also wash your mattress with tea tree essential oil.
As mentioned above, the action of baking soda is excellent on its own for cleaning it, but there is a way to improve the cleaning, by using tea tree essential oil.
This oil has antibacterial properties, so it is ideal for eliminating germs and bacteria from the mattress.
You can put 4 drops of tea tree essential oil in the aforementioned water and baking soda mixture, or put the same amount in a spray bottle filled with water and spray it all over the mattress, before leaving it on. to dry.

For a mattress that is always clean
After washing, it is important to know what precautions to take to keep a mattress always clean.
You often have bad habits in bed that must be eliminated or at least limited so as not to damage the mattress. Let’s see which ones
-
Food and drink on the bed
The first rule we should apply is to avoid food and drink in bed.
This habit soils the sheets and mattresses. In addition, in the case of drinks, liquids tend to seep into the fibers of the mattress, which makes their elimination more complicated.
Therefore, even if it sometimes seems to us one of the most comfortable activities, it is important to banish this bad habit.
-
Change the sheets
Another very important thing is to change the sheets . We often and gladly keep them longer than expected because they haven’t gotten dirty.
But it is not an index of cleanliness, on the contrary, the sheets are the part of the bed in direct contact with our body, which releases skin, hair, hair, sweat during the night.
As a result, the sheets always get dirty, even if the stains are not visible. The ideal would be to change them at least once a week.
-
Ventilate the room
We talked at the beginning of the article about the importance of airing the rooms in your home. A room kept too closed will increase humidity, bad odors and will not allow the mattress to breathe.
Thus, every morning, all windows or balconies must be open for at least 15 minutes.
It’s best if you can do it with the bed completely uncovered, putting the sheets in the sun.
Warning
We recommend that you always read the washing instructions of the mattress also according to the material from which it is made. If there are particular types of stains that are difficult to remove, it is advisable to consult an expert.
