After Christmas, New Year’s Eve is the most special day because it is a part of life that we share with our loved ones. It’s party time, toast, confetti and fireworks! However, all this does not leave our house free from dirt. On the contrary, it is during these days that we must pay the most attention to cleanliness. In particular, we must carefully watch the balcony, the place where we mainly go to celebrate the New Year at midnight.
Here’s how to clean the dirty balcony after New Year’s Eve!
Before you start, it is important to give you some tips so that you can clean your balcony in the best possible way without getting too tired.
Remove or turn off the Christmas lights and garlands: this step is important for safety reasons and because they could interfere with the proper cleaning of the balcony.
Pick up the leftovers: New Year’s Eve is synonymous with celebration, which is why, in addition to fireworks, we also celebrate with confetti. The remains are stuck on the balcony and must therefore be carefully removed with a vacuum cleaner or a stiff bristle broom.
Clean the shutters and blinds first: Although it may take some extra effort, it is a good idea to clean the shutters and blinds first if they are dirty. The balcony is easily soiled when you clean the items above, so it would be counterproductive to wash them after cleaning the balcony.
Now that you have seen the program that awaits you, let’s move on to the balcony cleaning phase !
The main ingredient for this cleaning is white vinegar, which degreases, removes stains and cleans thoroughly.
Of course, if you don’t have white vinegar, you can use any other type of vinegar.
You can use vinegar for all types of balconies, except for marble and wooden balconies, which are more delicate and require specific products.
Fill a bucket with hot water and put 2 glasses of vinegar in it.
Then proceed with the washing , taking care not to wet the fabric too much, as the water could drip onto the balconies at the bottom and dirty them.
Make several passes and change the water if necessary, otherwise the smell will remain and the cleaning will not be effective.
In case of stubborn dirt, make a first pass by rubbing with a broom with soft bristles, then wash with a microfiber cloth.

For marble and wooden balconies
As mentioned above, vinegar cannot be used on marble and wooden balconies.
Although it is rare to find balcony tiles made of these materials, it is still important to know how to wash them so as not to damage them.
The most effective ingredients in this case are baking soda and Marseille soap .
Prepare a mixture of one tablespoon of baking soda and one tablespoon of liquid soap, and mix until the mixture is homogeneous.
Use a tablespoon of this preparation in the bucket to wash the balcony.
If you don’t have the liquid version of Marseille soap, you can dissolve 1 tablespoon of shavings in water.
This mixture will spread a delicate fragrance and the balcony will smell good!
