Unfortunately, when cauliflower is cooked, there is always a smell left in the house that is anything but pleasant. Which, among other things, lasts a few days and is certainly not pleasant. Since it is a vegetable that is really good for your health and rich in useful nutrients for the body, it is okay to eat it, but the smell it leaves behind is really unbearable. Fortunately, there are remedies that can help overcome this annoying problem.

How to get rid of the smell that arises when cooking cauliflower

Among all the vegetables that we know, cauliflower is undoubtedly one of the healthiest that exists, since it is good for the body because it is very rich in:

  • Magnesium
  • Folic acid
  • Eat
  • Fibers
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin k
  • Ascorbic acid

In short, it’s just perfect, except it smells awful when cooked! To avoid cooking for this reason, an idea might be to put a slice of bread on the lid while cooking, as long as it has enough crumbs and not just crust. With this system, you will prevent the smell from entering your home, as the steam coming out of the pressure cooker will be absorbed by the bread, which will essentially act as a filter.

Another solution could be to place a slice of bread directly in the pan, but first wet it with white vinegar or lemon. However, both flavors are too strong, which can affect the flavor of the cauliflower.

Alternatively, you can put a potato in water and bring it to a boil in a pressure cooker after peeling. If you like, you can also use bay leaves or add some of them to the cooking water.

To absorb the smell and prevent your cauliflower from turning black, it may be helpful to pour a small glass of milk into the water. Finally, it is also possible to place a cup full of vinegar near the pressure cooker’s vent valve, more specifically on the lid. You will see that with these simple tricks you will be able to cook this vegetable easily and even more often.
